Sport Season

June - August (Northern Nevada)

Bocce is an Italian game. The basic principle of the sport is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a palina. Bocce as a Special Olympics sport provides people with special needs the opportunity to have social contact, develop physically and to gain self-confidence. Next to soccer and golf, bocce is the third most participated sport in the world.  Initial online certification training is not available in this sport.  For more information, please contact the Sports Manager for your area.

We believe it is important for our coaches to receive certification training in order to provide them with the tools needed to help our athletes have a positive sport experience.  By taking the online certification training, coaches will learn best practices when approaching sports training with our athletes. Certification is required for certain coaching situations and recommended for all coaches.   Please also make sure to check out the SONC/SONV Rules for Bocce (below).
