Special Olympics Shines at NBA Summer League

Special Olympics athletes from Las Vegas, Henderson, Mesquite, and Pahrump recently had the opportunity to play halftime exhibitions during the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Summer League features the brightest up-and-coming players and draws big crowds and notable attendees, including NBA stars, celebrities and more.

“It was exciting to play on the same court as my favorite team, the Golden State Warriors,” said athlete Denton. “My favorite part was playing in front of a big crowd!"

Male and female athletes played in respective games and were announced via the main PA system, adding to the overall energy of the event. Special Olympics has been invited to the Summer League for multiple years and it is a great chance to showcase the ability of the athletes while giving them an unforgettable experience on a big stage.

"My favorite moment was hitting the final shot at the buzzer during the Miami Heat and Utah Jazz game; and playing on the big court and the announcer saying my name," added athlete Jasmine.
