Polar Plunges Make a Big Splash for Special Olympics

Over 540 people took the plunge for Special Olympics at this year's Polar Plunges.  Taking place in 3 different locations in Nevada, supporters put on their favorite costumes and ran, jumped or dove into the chilly water, all in the name of Special Olympics!

Participants dipped their big toe or their whole body, it was completely up to them. For those not brave enough to take a quick dip, who wanted to be a part of the festivities, the option of registering as a "chicken" was available.

All participants raised a minimum of $125 in order to plunge and received a Polar Plunge hooded sweatshirt and free admittance to the post parties that took place immediately following each plunge.  Additional incentive gifts were awarded based on reaching established fundraising levels.  Of course the greatest gift of all was knowing that the money raised helped Special Olympics continue to change the lives of people in our local communities with intellectual disabilities.

Participants registered as individual participants or as teams in one of the following categories - Community, Cool School, Corporate, Law Enforcement or Special Olympics Friends.  Awards were presented to the top fundraisers in each category.

Watch for dates for 2017!
