Nevada Hosts 2017 National Unified Bowling Competition

The 2017 National Unified Bowling Competition was held this month at the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa in Las Vegas. The two-day competition featured nearly 460 bowlers from 13 states competing in team and doubles competitions.

Congratulations to Team Nevada bowlers including: Stacey Allen, Gregorio Daisley, Kiana Harris, Lizzy Headworth, J.R. Hill, Kenny Houston, Shannon Houston, Keith Jacobson, Taylor Jacobson, Lisa, Wesley, Clyde Weaver, Jahnn Williams, and Katherine Hoy.

“Nationals was a fantastic experience because I was able to hang out with my teammates from Nevada and meet new people from other states,” said Special Olympics athlete, Wesley. “We exchanged state pins so that we can remember what state they are from and the pins are a great souvenir. I also got to talk to them about bowling. This whole experience has been so wonderful for my family.  My mom and I are spending extra time together and she is a great partner. I hope I can do this experience again in the future.”

Wesley’s mother, Lisa, echoed his thoughts on the event.

“I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to bowl with my son, Wesley, in Special Olympics Nationals Unified Bowling. I am new to bowling and this experience has brought us closer together. My son has encouraged me to learn more on how to bowl. It is an experience that we will remember for a long time.”
