Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is proud to honor a pair of teachers who have gone above and beyond for their students and have encouraged an environment of inclusion and acceptance throughout their respective school communities.
The selected teachers were nominated by Schools Partnership Program coordinators. SONV recognizes the contributions of partnering special education, adapted physical education (APE) and other teachers and administrators for their outstanding efforts in impacting the lives of students with intellectual disabilities.
The honored teachers include:
Ms. Santana Huppe
Coronado High School
Ms. Huppe is a Unified Basketball Coach for Coronado High School within the Clark County School District.
Although being new to Nevada, Ms. Huppe jumped headfirst into Unified Sports and has made a big impact. She overcame numerous obstacles in order to prepare her students for successful basketball event and used her past knowledge and passion for Special Olympics to enrich the experience for her school.

Ms. Linda Stayner
Liberty High School
Ms. Stayner is a teacher and Unified Coach at Liberty High School within the Clark County School District.
Ma. Stayner has been a strong proponent of school-based Special Olympics events and participates in every opportunity in which she is able. She is described as “consistent, willing and dedicated to seeing that her students have the best experience possible.”
