Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is proud to honor teachers who have gone above and beyond for their students and have encouraged an environment of inclusion and acceptance throughout their respective school communities.
The selected teacher was nominated by Schools Partnership Program coordinators for the spring season. SONV recognizes the contributions of partnering special education, adapted physical education (APE) and other teachers and administrators for their outstanding efforts in impacting the lives of students with intellectual disabilities.
The honored teacher for spring 2018 is:
Ms. Carrie O’Dea
Clark County School District
Ms. O’Dea is an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher with the Clark County School District who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of her students.
Nicknamed “Sister Carrie” for her selfless attitude and desire to help others, Ms. O’Dea has been an active participant in organizing Special Olympics events within the district. She emphasizes Unified Sports and believes strongly in the inclusionary power of Special Olympics.
