Job Description:

Who we are:  Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through sports, education and athlete health.. Within the Community Sports Program and the Schools Partnership Program, SONV is encouraging the growth of Unified Sports®, bringing together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to play as teammates.

What you would do:   Reporting to SONV’s Executive Director and based in Northern Nevada, this position will have the following

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Formulate a development strategy,
  • Identify and secure corporate partners, individual donors and foundations to financially support the organization’s governance, programs and events.
  • Grow, manage and support SONV’s partnership with local law enforcement agencies that participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which fundraises on behalf of SONV, participates in athlete recognition opportunities and helps expand awareness of our movement.
  • Provide support with our grant writing process
  • Assist as needed with our Community Sports Program by working directly with athletes and engaging in event logistics. 

You might be a good fit for this job if you have:

  • A passion for our movement of inclusion for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • A proven track record in donor solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship.   
  • Experience working with volunteers and people with disabilities.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Salesforce and PowerPoint
  •  Strong organizational skills, including the ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities to meet objectives and deadlines. Discretion and independent judgment and are a resourceful problem solver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong networking and presentation skills.
  • Schedule flexibility, including the ability to work occasional nights and weekends based on Development events.
  • A bachelor’s degree (and/or a minimum of 5 years nonprofit development experience)

Intern Position

Job Title:  Unified Champion Schools Intern 

Reports To:  Schools Partnership Program and Sports Manager

Office Location:  Las Vegas

Job Description:

Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) provides athletic opportunities to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, instilling the confidence they need to succeed in life.  SONV also provides a Unified Champion Schools Program on local campuses with the goal of activating young people and giving them the tools, skills, and opportunities to build change and to motivate their schools to have true cultures of inclusiveness. SONV is currently seeking a Unified Champion Schools Intern, to work under the supervision and guidance of SONV’s Senior Director, Nevada Programs and Partnerships. The Unified Champion Schools Intern will gain training and hands-on experience with planning inclusive school programs in the Greater Las Vegas area.
